As a photographer, one of my favorite elements of a wedding is constraint. As artists, we must roll with the punches – weather, lighting, schedule – you name it and we have probably worked with it. But at the same time, constraints are still constraints. And when Amy + Steve’s minister at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portland told me I could not shoot from forward of the last rows of pews, I was devastated.
But soon, that turned to elation as I was able to think critically and get shots I probably never would have. I worked from the balcony. Shot through windows. It was a ton of fun, and I got some cool images.
After the ceremony, we headed to the Monarch Hotel for dancing, dinner, and a close to a beautiful day.
