There really is no possible way to explain how complete strangers can meet once and feel as if they have known each other forever. But, when I pulled into the pre-wedding scene at a dusty parking lot at the White House in the Gorge, that is the feeling I had. Sara + Anthony had been in touch with me months in advance, as we tracked Anthony’s bone marrow donor chances. He required this transfusion to help rid him of cancer. Literally days before the wedding, they received the news – a match was found and he would undergo the procedure only days after the wedding. The relief and true happiness laid across their wedding like a warm blanket. It was an electricity you could feel.
I worked so hard to capture the essence of this feeling through my photographs. They remain, some of my favorites I have ever taken of two people.
Sadly, we learned of Anthony’s complications and passing due to problems with the transfusion. I was so sad to hear about this, as we shared some wonderful conversations at the wedding. I am incredibly honored to have been a part of their wedding, and know that my photographs are the last of this couple together – and it was such a magical day.
